Katie's Plain Regret by Sara Harris

“I’m Katie Knepp from Gasthof Village. I’m headed south. For Texas.”
Peter turned to face the man who still shrouded him in his massive shadow. Katie watched as the stranger on the little hill lifted his hand to his mouth and plucked a cigarette from his lips. The breeze fluttered his coat as he stood unmoving, staring at them. The pair of pistols that hung on his hips caught the sun and shone out, making Katie squint against the blinding metallic glare. Silver devils, Katie thought. Someone once described pistols like that as silver devils. She let her gaze travel up the man and focus on his cold, staring eyes. And now I understand why.
“Are you going to kill us,” Katie breathed.
The stranger dropped his hands, allowing his duster to flip back over the silver devils. He stepped down the little hill toward them.
“I never yet killed a man that didn’t need killin’.”

Sara Harris, formerly known as Sara Barnard, is wife to a romance novel-esque husband, mother to six beautiful children, daughter to a pair of awesome parents, and a friend to many. Oh, she writes some, too.

Sara began writing in the third grade, but became serious about becoming published after watching Eclipse with her friend, Rochelle. Rochelle mentioned that Ms. Meyer was a housewife with many children, so Sara decided that she would put pen to paper and see what happened. Wow. She started writing in 2009 and hasn't stopped since!

Her debut novel, A Heart on Hold, was published in 2012 and quickly became a series. Books 2 and 3, A Heart Broken and A Heart at Home, were published in January 2013 and June 2013 respectively, with book 4, A Heart Forever Wild, entering the marketplace soon after.

Sara's title selection for adults has grown to include Christian western, Amish fiction, children's fiction and nonfiction, horror, timeslip YA, and Amish western.

Sara writes for kids, too. She independently publishes a line of nonfiction children's books which includes The ABCs of Texas Plants, The ABCs of Oklahoma Plants, and The Big Bad Wolf Really Isn't so Big and Bad -- all of which have become bestsellers on Amazon in their respective categories. 5 Prince Kids also publishes some of Sara's fiction works. Chunky Sugars was published in January 2013 and Little Spoon released September 2013. Chunky Sugars received a 5-star review as Reader's Favorite, as well! All of Sara's titles are available in both print and digital format, with audio books of each coming soon (if they're not already here!)

Sara's newest middle grade series, The Saga of Indian Em'ly, has been nominated for the Peacemaker Award for and the Novella RONE award for. Her next release, The House of Madness, is her first scary novel and will be followed by her four-book Amish Romance series, Rebekah's Keepsakes series from Vinspire Publishing.
