Lesson in Lone Creek by Mary Manners

Nick Merrill longs for adventure, and he finds it as one of the most highly-praised smoke jumpers on the West Coast. But when his best friend dies fighting a blaze, he returns to Lone Creek Ranch to shake off the loss. There he finds Sawyer Landon, a local middle school teacher who has a gift for reaching even the most difficult kids. When Sawyer asks him to speak at the school's annual Career Day, sparks fly. But Nick knows teaching and adventure are as polar opposite as it get--or are they?

Mary Manners

Mary Manners is a country girl at heart who has spent a lifetime sharing her joy of writing. She has two sons and a daughter, as well as three beautiful grandchildren. She currently lives along the sunny shores of Jacksonville Beach with her husband Tim.

A former teacher as well an intermediate school principal, Mary spent three decades teaching math and English to students from kindergarten through middle grades. While growing up in Chicago and as a student at the University of Illinois, Mary worked her way through a variety of jobs including paper girl, figure skating instructor, pizza chef, and nanny. Many of these experiences led to adventures that may be found between the pages of her stories. Mary loves long sunrise runs—she’s completed three marathons—ocean sunsets and flavored coffee.

My Review

Lesson in Lone Creek is book 3 in the Lone Creek series. This has been a wonderful series looking forward to book 4 Love in Lone Creek!  Mary writes such great romantic and spiritual books. The characters are well developed. I always look forward to each book as they carry the great characters over into them. I think they are like family.
Nick Merrill is the fire fighter in the family full of adventure. That is until his friend dies in a fire. It is so hard for Nick to put it aside he takes a leave from being a smoke jumper. Goes back home to Lone Creek. Runs a errand for the ranch to deliver some flyers for the reach out program for kids at the ranch. Then their is pushing and shoving in the hall and Sawyer is knocked to him losing his hold on the flyers goes everywhere. Do you believe in love at first site? Who is this kid calling Sawyer mom? Wonder story! Mary's books are always great. Nice size books you can sit down  and read in a day if you don't have lot of time.
