The Lumberjacks' Ball By: Carrie Fancett Pagels

A decade after surviving a brutal attack, a mercantile owner’s daughter begins her life anew in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A gifted craftsman wishes to leave the lumber camp and seeks employment at her new store. When his presence dredges up memories she wishes to suppress, the proprietress must learn to face her past and open her heart. When complications arise, will they overcome adversity in time for The Lumberjack's Ball?

Carrie Fancett Pagels

Like Diana, on Tea Time Reviews, my heroine Rebecca Jane (Daggen)Hart loves all things tea! She runs a mercantile in bustling turn-of-the-century St. Ignace Michigan, situated about the Straits of Mackinac in the Upper Peninsula. My own mother grew up in a lumber camp after leaving Kentucky and her stories and my own growing up experinces inspired the first book in this series "The Fruitcake Bride" which was part of an eight author Christmas Traditions Series. I got so excited about my characters I didn't want to leave them! So The Christy Lumber Camp Series was born. And I added The Lumberjacks' Ball and am two thirds of the way through the third book - Lilacs for Juliana, also set in the Upper Peninsula.

Question: Do you have a special place you like to enjoy your tea? Share!

Carrie will be giving away a book and a beautiful pair of teatime earrings. Isn't that awesome. All you need to do is make a comment below. Answer the question! One lucky winner will win!!

My Review
The Lumberjack's Ball
By: Carrie Fancett Pagels

I really enjoyed this book. I have read other books written by Carrie this one is written  very well. I loved the characters. Rebecca  who has come to town to run her fathers mercantile . In search of a cabinet maker. Garrett Christy  applies for the job. There is something familiar about Rebecca. Where does he remember her from? A girl from his past but Rebecca wasn't her name. Why would she be using a fake name? What is she hiding from?  I found this to be a very sweet romance story written in good taste.  Get the book find out about her past and then what the future holds for Rebecca and Garrett. I give this book 5 stars.

    1. Catherine, that is a great place to read but I still prefer the guest bedroom for my reading! I almost never read fiction unless I'm in bed. I think I must be an odd ball but I wonder if other authors do the same thing!

  6. I would love to be able to drink tea but it has caused certain health problems for me in the past. I'm a big coffee drinker and drink mine mostly in my living room while reading. Sometimes when the weather's nice I sit outside in my seat swing and read and drink coffee.

    1. Oh no, Gail! Sorry to hear that. One tea I love, but can't drink, is Earl Grey because it has Bergamot in it which causes inflammation. Thanks for coming by! Blessings!

    1. BETTI, I still sneak in a third of a cup of coffee on occasion but am trying to stay away from it. Oh, that is so sweet that you'd read The Lumberjacks' Ball with your cup of coffee - those lumberjacks were used to drinking sludge, lol! Hugs

  9. I don't drink Hot Tea, but I like to drink my coffee in the dining room near my front windows-- we have hibiscus right outside the windows and normally they attract hummingbirds. What a JOY to watch the hummingbirds and marvel at their size and color and how quickly they move!!

    1. I love hibiscus, LADETTE!!! I've never grown any but I love how they look! We have to convert you to a tea drinker ;) I used to be a hard core coffee drinker and I'd brew espresso to drink! I drank it in a coffee cup lol! Then I was advised to cut my caffeine. It has been quite a process to get to being a regular tea drinker. But I have always loved it, too, and especially High Tea--love that!

    1. My rescuer and CPer!!! TY for coming by my dear friend!!! We need to huddle over a nice tea set and enjoy, don't we? Wow, a fire going. I would have to load up on albuterol to manage that one lol, for my asthma. Thank you Jesus I wasn't born back in the old days! I love to write about those days but I couldn't have breathed with all the woodsmoke everywhere! Hugs!!!

    2. But if you were born in those days you might not have the allergies because I think a lot of what we have is caused from all the pollution we breathe! And YES< YES<YES!! We do need to sit and sip tea together and plot, plot, plot. lol

  12. Hi Diana, thanks for having Carrie here. She is a very special lady.
Her books are special too.I love tea. Hot in the morning and iced anytime. Usually in my rocker. Here in Texas it is too hot and too many mosquitos to sit on the porch or would spend time there. Enjoyed the post Carrie and Diana. Thanks, Maxie
