Saffron in the Hay Yard by Farzana Aqib

Saffron

in the Hay Yard

History is contagious, it never says goodbye. This novel written by Farzana Aqib is a true event of history a story that had stayed away from the scene under thick layers of centuries old dust. The events that occurred long before our time, but not only reappeared in the living memories of those who were present at that time, but materialized in the present domain of time very much living and breathing, as in a stripped - down ruthless reality. It's all about getting on the same page where we had left the history and its untold story arguaably undecided and unfinished. The continuity of the past in the presentrealm of time, shows, how absurdly we overlooked the facts and remained so oblivion and nondenensical of the truth and roots that we actually built our own world on the carcass of those fantasist who actually sacrificed their glory in the anticipation of a better horizons. It is witnessed, when a tide recedes it leaves behind an imprint until the next tide rubs it out to write its own story, but when history evades it leaves behind a preserved petrified form, an impression like fossils.

My Review:

I fully enjoyed reading this novel a true story from history. Very well written by Farzana Aqib. When she writes she is so decriptive it feels like you are there in place and time.  Her writting is of the muslin women and how they live. The culture  is very different then how we as American women live. And shame women here are not satisfied. American women have a wonderful life and freedom and liberties these women do not have.  The cruilty and rapeing of the women is awful. But Farzana hides nothing she tells it as it is. You will stay glued to the pages to read the story of Roma.  roma is living in the slums and gets a chance to go to college. She  takes it and its paid for for 4 years.  She gets to liv e with a wealthy woman and her family in exchange for working for them. Mean time she falls in love with the son Ali.  His mother is beside herself and what she won't pull to get her way about this relationship. Beautiful story from slum to  Riches and from Riches to the slum. I was interested in the title of the book. But I thought about it and to me Saffron is expensive compared to Hay. So I got the riches to the slum. This story has a twist in it. Loved it. When you can pick up this novel by Farzana Aqib.  5 stars

  1. Very pathetic grammar in this review making the flavor of the text under discussion evaporate.

  2. For quite a time, I have been searching for some good reviews on Farzana Aqib's novels. But I came across few reviews, and those too very childish.
