Miriam! What a fascinating person. What a joy it has been to unpack her life story. I do hope you find her as enthralling as I did.
The previous book, Miriam Part I: Devoted Sister, told of a little girl who saved the life of her baby brother, Moses. We traced her girlhood years as she faced the horrors of belonging to a large and rapidly-growing nation of slaves, owned and ill-treated by the Pharaoh of Egypt. Despite their conditions her parents, Amram and Jochebed, managed to instill in their daughter a rich faith in the one true God, Yahweh.
This book takes up Miriam's story at around eighty years old. Yet, as we will see, this was no fragile, elderly woman. She had far more energy than I have, and I imagine more than you. About to embark on an incredible journey that would take the rest of her life, she faced adventures and horrors of terrifying magnitude. Throughout that time, she showed herself to be a gifted leader in a time when women were not regarded as capable of taking the lead.
If you respond to this story as I did, you will be encouraged by the way God used this woman who was well past her prime, despite her, at times, head-strong attitude. For all her giftedness, Miriam was a normal woman, far from perfection. That gives me hope. I am also far from perfection, and I suspect you are too. Let's learn together as we journey out of Egypt with Miriam.
This story commences as Book 1 ended. The Children of Israel gather at the exit from Goshen, about to embark on the journey of a lifetime. Let's pick up our bundles and get behind our leaders as we prepare to take our leave of Pharaoh, the Egyptians, and the life of slavery.

My Review
Miriam part 2 is book 4 in the series Out of the Shadow. I am really enjoying this series, Shirley Corder has a way of telling the story of these ladies of the Bible. The stories are wonderful. Makes you think of how things were in their day and time. Miriam 2 is about Miriam and when she was in her 80's tell her passing. Miriam was used by God all the way till she passed away. Loved reading the life of Miriam. The characters are very developed. Looking forward to the next great lady.
Thank you for posting this, Di. Much appreciated.
